It Only Takes ONE.
For homeowners in hurricane-prone areas, it is never too early to prepare. While it is impossible to say with certainty how active the hurricane season will be this year, 2022 taught us to prepare for the unexpected. Following a storm shift and unprecedented flooding in Southwest Florida, Acentria Insurance alone processed over 4,100 hurricane claims post Hurricane Ian.
As we approach hurricane season, please know insurance companies cannot accept new policies or policy changes for additional coverage when the National Weather Services has issued a tropical storm or hurricane watch or warning for any part of Florida.
We encourage you to start creating your own Preparedness Kit and review your current insurance plan today. Not only is our team available when you have a claim, we are also there to provide you with resources to assist you in preparing for a severe weather event.
Hurricane Season 2023 Starts June 1st, Don’t Wait!
Floods represent the most common and destructive natural disaster in the United States. It only takes one flood to create a financial catastrophe. Occurring more often than tornadoes, earthquakes or hurricanes, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) estimates that even one inch of water in your home can cause up to $7,800 of flood damage. Unfortunately, many homeowners and businesses are surprised to find that floods are not included in a general policy (like a homeowners or business owners insurance policy).
Plan ahead and request a flood quote today! The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) flood policy typically has a 30 day waiting period before it goes into effect unless you are purchasing a new property. Don’t wait, learn more about flood preparedness tips and flood protection for your home or business.
Boats: Secure, Secure, Secure
Watercraft owners and the marine community should take proactive measures to minimize the potential for injuries and damage to their boats and other property. Remember, key factors in protecting your boat from hurricanes or any severe storm are planning, preparation and timely action, so make sure the boat is prepared, extra dock lines and fenders are added, cockpit drains are clear, and sails and canvas is stowed below to minimize windage.
Regardless of the type of watercraft you have – jet ski, sailboat, fishing boat, house boat or an entire fleet – we are here to help you with all your watercraft insurance needs.
